Merit: Screen Time Blocker · Last updated 29 July 2026

Merit has no account system, no server, and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There is no sign-up, no login, and no backend that Merit talks to.

Which apps you block

Merit uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls and ManagedSettings). When you pick apps to restrict, iOS hands the app an opaque token for each selection. These tokens cannot be decoded into app names or bundle identifiers, not by us and not by anyone else. They are stored in a container shared between Merit and its monitoring extension, both on your device, and they are never sent off the device.

Health data

With your permission, Merit reads four things from Apple Health: step count, exercise minutes, stand hours, and sleep analysis. It uses them for one purpose, which is converting your activity into screen-time credits, and it does that calculation on your device.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, card number, or Apple Account. We receive only the anonymous, aggregate sales reports that Apple gives every developer.

Third parties

Merit contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no tracking of any kind. It makes no network requests. Because we collect no data, there is nothing to use for advertising or to share with data brokers, and we do not do either.

Children

Merit is a self-management tool for the owner of the device. It is not designed for children and is not a parental-control product. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Since the app collects nothing, we do not expect the substance to change.
